Newton Rowell Scholarships
INTRODUCTION
These scholarships were established in 1992 by the Honourable Henry N.R. Jackman, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Ontario, in memory of his grandfather, the Honourable Newton Wesley Rowell.
Three scholarships have been established at each law school in Ontario to encourage students of varying backgrounds and origins, interested in public service to study law in Ontario.
PURPOSE OF FUND
To fund three annual entrance scholarships for students entering the JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, at the University of Ottawa, on the basis of academic excellence and a demonstrated interest and commitment to public service.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
Eligibility Criteria
The applicant must:
1. be admitted full-time in the first year of the JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section;
2. demonstrate academic excellence; and
3. demonstrate an interest and commitment to public service.
Value of the Award: Variable
No. of Awards: Three, two for students entering the first year of the English language program and one to a student entering the first year of the French language program.
Frequency of the Award: Annual
Level of the Award: Undergraduate

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications must be made through Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which can be accessed through https://scholarships.uottawa.ca, and must include an essay, maximum of 500 words, which details applicant's interest and commitment to public service.
